PURPOSE: An apparatus for processing images of the image area of a vehicle and an image processing method thereof are provided to minimize time delay to recognition of images. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus(100) for processing images of the image area of a vehicle comprises a front image acquiring unit(110), a recognition processing unit(120), and a controller(130). The front image acquiring unit obtains the images of the front side of a vehicle using a photographing element(112). The recognition processing unit performs recognition processes on the obtained images. The controller controls image information register and the recognition processes on the photographing element.
