PURPOSE: An antibacterial composition containing oregonin or hirsutenone is provided to prevent or relieve Staphylococcus aureus infection and to ensure antibacterial activity to Staphylococcus aureus. CONSTITUTION: An antibacterial composition contains Alnus pendula matsum bark extract, or a compound of chemical formula 1 or 2 as an active ingredient. The chemical formula 1, R is xylose.
