PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress increase in scale of a flat braid apparatus caused by increase in number of braids and to eliminate distinction of size of the flat braid apparatus caused by increase and decrease in number of braids. SOLUTION: An reed 1 is configured to include a lower reed 4 having a plurality of lower reed marks 40 which have open upper ends and through which a plurality of braids B are reeded and an upper reed 5 having a plurality of upper reed marks 50 which have open lower ends. The lower reed 4 and the upper reed 5 are arranged so that the lower reed marks 40 and the upper reed marks 50 are communicated with each other in the vertical direction and the upper reed 5 is supported movably in the direction crossing the reeding direction of the braids B.
