The regulator (10) has an infrared sensor (11) detecting orientation and/or position of an adjusting knob. A manually actuatable push-button (12) is integrated into the adjusting knob. The infrared sensor is activated only when activation of the push-button and/or in connection to activation of the push-button during limited time period. The push-button consumes less energy in an idle condition than the infrared sensor in activated condition. The infrared sensor and the push-button are integrated into a common operating element and arranged in a housing (3).
