摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To lengthen optical path length in a crystal body and to improve the detecting sensitivity, by applying voltage between two spiral electrodes, applying a current to at least one of these two spiral electrodes, and detecting a beam transmitting in this crystal body. CONSTITUTION:In case of measuring the voltage applied to a voltage terminal 13, a relative angle of a polarizer 2 and a 1/4 wavelength plate 3 is set so that a beam which transmits the polarizer 2 and the 1/4 wavelength plate 3 becomes a circular polarized wave. For instance, when an angle of the polarizer 2 is set to ''0'' degree, as for the 1/4 wavelength plate 3, its axial direction is set to 45 degrees by use of a Habinet-Soleil compensator. Also, an angle of an analyser 5 is set so as to become 45 degrees against the double refraction intrinsic axial direction at its emitting end generated by an electric field applied to a crystal body 4. As a result, two electrodes 11 and 12 operate on the crystal body 4 as spiral electrodes, and the crystal body 4 receives an electro-optical effect. As a result, a phase difference by double refraction is varied, and the quantity of light passing through the analyser 5 is varied.</p>
