PURPOSE: A soft coral extract is provided to ensure antioxidation, anti-inflammation, and whitening activities. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for antioxidation or anti-inflammation contains Alcyonium gracillimum extract or Dendronephtya gigantean extract as an active ingredient. A food composition for antioxidation contains Alcyonium gracillimum extract or Dendronephtya gigantean extract as an active ingredient. The extract is an ethyl acetate layer fraction obtained by extracting Alcyonium gracillimum or Dendronephtya gigantean with water, ethanol, or mixture solvent thereof and fractioning with water and ethyl acetate.
