<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein determination information as to which image is to be used is newly required, which, in some cases, may result in more degradation of a compression efficiency than that of conventional standards depending on the input video, in methods in which coding is performed by image switching, in units of areas, between a predicted image generated by an existing coding standard, and an image newly generated by performing motion estimation between decoded images. <P>SOLUTION: Whether a predicted image generated by an existing coding standard is to be used or an image newly generated by performing motion estimation between decoded images is to be used, is determined based on coding information within a frame to be coded or within a previously coded frame. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
