<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the circuit in a voltage source type power converter including a voltage source power converter and a capacitor connected to the DC side of the converter. <P>SOLUTION: A discharge circuit for discharging the DC side voltage also serves as a neutral detection circuit for detecting the ground fault abnormality. Loss by the neutral detection circuit and the time of DC voltage drop of a main circuit after stoppage of the power converter are kept, respectively, within an acceptable range by selecting the resistance of the neutral detection circuit so that the ratio of power consumption to the rated power of the power converter when the grounding can be detected and the main circuit voltage is always applied and the discharge time constant determined by the resistance and the capacitance of the DC side capacitor fall to or below the design tolerance of the power converter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
