The method involves moving an attachment part i.e. door (10), into an assembly position relative to a body (12) of a motor vehicle by a mounting tool (14). A difference between an actual position and a target position of the motor vehicle is formed by a control system. The mounting tool is manually moved relative to the body of the motor vehicle by an assembling device (16) with the attachment part in a pre-assembled position of the attachment part. The attachment part is fastened at the mounting tool by a fixing device.
