<p>PURPOSE: An air conditioner and a control method thereof are provided to reduce a warm-up time since the warm-up time varies by the comparing of a discharge temperature with an outdoor temperature. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner comprises an indoor unit, an outdoor unit, an outdoor temperature sensor(110), a discharge temperature sensor(120) and a controller(100). The outdoor temperature sensor senses the outdoor temperature. The discharge temperature sensor senses the discharge temperature before the compressor is driven. The controller produces the difference value between the outdoor temperature and the sensed discharge temperature, compares the difference value with a set value and variably controls a warm-up time based on the comparison result. If the difference value is larger than the set value, the controller reduces the warm-up time. The controller variably controls one or more of a first warm-up time, for which the air conditioner is operated at a first compressor frequency, and a second warm-up time, for which the air conditioner is operated at a second compressor frequency.</p> |
