<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the increase in the optical coupling loss due to the increased scale of arrangements of optical input/output portions, in an optical system constituting a large scale optical switch, and to provide an optical switch with low loss. <P>SOLUTION: The optical switch 1 includes an optical input portion 2, having a plurality of optical input ports which input optical signal into the optical switch; and an optical output portion 3, having a plurality of optical output ports which output the optical signal. The optical switch deflects the optical signal input from the optical input ports and outputs the optical signal to a selected optical output port. The optical input ports and the optical output ports are arranged two-dimensionally and are supported by a plurality of support members (alignment substrates 27 to 30), respectively.
