PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hard film for a cutting tool performing high speed cutting and high efficient cutting with more excellent wear resistance than that of TiAlSiN, and also to provide a useful method for manufacturing the same to obtain the hard film. SOLUTION: This hard film is composed of (Ti<SB>1-a-b-c-d'</SB>Al<SB>a</SB>, Cr<SB>b</SB>, Si<SB>c</SB>, B<SB>d</SB>)(C<SB>1-e</SB>N<SB>e</SB>), where a, b, c and d denoting respectively the atomic ratios of Al, Cr, Si and B, satisfy 0.5≤a≤0.8, 0.06≤b, 0≤c≤0.1, 0≤d≤0.1, 0.01≤c+d≤0.1 and a+b+c+d<1, and e denoting the atomic ratio of N satisfies 0.5≤e≤1.
