<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the manufacturing cost and power consumption of a liquid crystal display device by reducing the number of LEDs, in the device that uses LEDs for light sources. <P>SOLUTION: A backlight is structured by making LEDs 30 arranged on a wiring board 40 correspond to a light guide plate 50 with light guide plate blocks 51 arranged in matrix. The number of light guide plate blocks is reduced by making the size of the light guide plate block 511 in the periphery larger than the light guide plate block 51 at the center, and as a result, the number of LEDs 30 is reduced as a whole; as a result by setting the luminance in a peripheral area of a screen to be 60% or higher of that in a central area of the screen, brightness unevenness can be made inconspicuous. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
