PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element which has a high manufacturing yield and has longer element lifetime. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element has two light-emitting layers 4, 5 laminated between an anode 1 and a cathode 2 via a non-light-emitting layer 3. A light-emitting dopant and a second dopant are added in a host material in the light-emitting layer 5 at a cathode 2 side. The second dopant has the maximum light-emitting wavelength shorter than the maximum light-emitting wavelength of the light-emitting dopant, and has ionization potential smaller than the ionization potential of the light-emitting dopant, and further has ionization potential larger than the ionization potential of the host material.
