The device (1) has an inlet connecting piece (3), an input filter (9), a perforated chamber inlet pipe (12), a balance chamber (11), a chamber outlet pipe (14), an output filter (10) and an outlet nozzle (4) arranged in a direction of flow of exhaust gas, where the device is formed in a presilencer-free manner. The input filter and/or the output filter are made of foam ceramic. The inlet connecting piece and/or the chamber outlet pipe flows into a curved or funnel-shaped filter housing wall (16). Three stages (5-7) are provided between the inlet connecting piece and the outlet nozzle.
