The method involves determining orientation data of a road (7) traveled by a vehicle (1). A hybrid drive (3) is controlled with respect to the determined orientation data, where the orientation data is determined by direct or indirect measurement. An internal combustion engine is switched-off with respect to an efficiency of an electric motor and the orientation data. A signal characterizing a longitudinal acceleration (11) is determined, and the longitudinal acceleration is divided into a gravimetric component (15).
