PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the flip-flopping phenomenon of the rotational trajectory of a sleeve when a tensionless type image heating device 10 adopting a film heating system is started up. SOLUTION: The image heating device includes a separation member 29 which is disposed to face the sleeve on the downstream side from a nip potion N in the conveying direction D of a recording material and is for performing separation so that the recording material exiting from the nip part N is not wound on the sleeve 23 and a rotatable roller 28 which is for regulating the rotational trajectory of the sleeve. The part facing the sleeve of the roller is located on the upstream side from the part facing the sleeve of the separation member in the conveying direction of the recording material.
