PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detecting device capable of detecting an operation position of a lever, using few magnetometric sensors and a magnet having a simple structure. SOLUTION: A discoid magnet 8 is fixed to a holder 7, moving on the same plane in parallel with a circuit board 9 accompanying the operation of a shift lever 1, and a pair of magnetometric sensors 10 (10A, 10B) are mounted on the circuit board 9. In the magnet 8, one main surface is magnetized into an N-pole and the other main surface is magnetized into an S-pole; and the magnetometric sensors 10 include a soft magnetic body layer 22, provided on a surface layer of a base 20 comprising a non-magnetic material; and at least two Hall ICs 21 arranged near a fringe part of the soft magnetic body layer 22 and has a constitution, wherein the Hall ICs 21 are arranged on an X=Y orthogonal coordinates by using the center of the soft magnetic body 22 as the origin. As a result, a direction (angle) with respect to the X-axis of a magnetic flux of the magnet 8 can be detected, based on a Hall voltage detected by the pair of the magnetometric sensors 10, and a plurality of shift positions of the shift lever 1, can be detected based on the detection result.
