VIDEO GAME DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING SWITCHING OF DISPLAY MODE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve smooth switching between 2D display and 3D stereoscopic display; and to prevent stimulus to player's eyes or brain caused by abrupt change of presence of stereoscopic vision.

SOLUTION: A device includes: a monitor 11 allowing 3D stereoscopic vision; a virtual camera control part 161d for selectively performing the 2D display mode in which positions or the like of virtual cameras 60L and 60R for photographing images are matched and a 3D stereoscopic display mode in which the two virtual cameras are in predetermined separated positional relationship; an image display control part 161c for displaying on the monitor 11 a 3D stereoscopic image from right and left image data photographed by the two virtual cameras; and a processing part 161k for switching display modes, for transiently switching the two virtual cameras from the positional relationship of one display mode to that of the other display mode when a display mode-instructing part 161j instructs the other display mode.
