<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trailer sway mitigation method which performs trailer sway mitigation, by providing an accurate measured value for an electronic control unit and also by directly and accurately measuring a distance up to a trailer from the rear end of a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: This trailer sway mitigation method includes sensing a plurality of vehicle characteristics, sensing a distance between the vehicle 10 and the trailer 50 by at east one sensor 44 and 46 positioned on the rear end of the vehicle, determining an oscillatory action of the trailer based on the sensed distance, and adding brake force to at least one wheel 20 of the vehicle in response to the oscillatory action. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
