PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a woody facing which can make available a woody facing with high woody touch, when a sharp grain contrast superseding the one obtained by a conventional coloring process resorting to high pressure water vapor treatment, is required and also, which can ensure the availability of light resistance of the woody facing, when emphasizing the woody touch. SOLUTION: This method necessitates a heat coloring process which generates a polymerizable colored material with high light resistance in the wood 2 by heating the wood 2 with the assistance of high pressure water vapor. After that, a sliced veneer 2s is manufactured by slicing the wood 2, and a coating material P obtained by adding a diluent to a coloring agent composed mainly of a white pigment, is applied to the surface of the sliced veneer 2s.
