PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: since the distribution of deformed reflected light becomes different if the gloss characteristics of a document are different, a read signals may become different even in the visually same color if a direction of detection by an image sensor and a direction of observation by a user are different in reading a document image. SOLUTION: A quantity 22 of scattered reflected light when a document 24 is lighted with an illumination light source 21, is detected in a detection direction B. The detected quantity 22 of reflected light from the document is corrected so as to be reflected with a surface reflected light component 23 in an observation direction A. Thus, even when the document 24 is read in the detection direction B, a read signal matched with a look in the observation direction A is obtained. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
