<p>PURPOSE:To provide a printing ink, excellent in drying properties and operability and suitable for high-quality printed matters, by reacting rosins with phenols, then reacting the resultant reaction product with a resol type phenolic resin, dissolving the obtained product in a petroleum-based solvent and using the prepared varnish. CONSTITUTION:The objective ink obtained by reacting (A) (i) rosins, such as gum rosin, with (ii) phenols in the presence of (iii) an acid catalyst (e.g., p- toluenesulfonic acid) added thereto, on the other hand, reacting (B) alkylphenols containing a 4-12C alkyl group with formaldehyde and an alkaline catalyst to provide a resol type phenolic resin, preferably blending 100 pts.wt. component (A) with 5-140 pts.wt. component (B), dissolving the obtained blend in a petroleum-based solvent with >=0.78 specific gravity, >=200 deg.C boiling point and <=10wt.% aromatic hydrocarbon content to prepare a varnish and adding a colorant, ink dryer, etc., thereto.</p> |
