PURPOSE: A sodium electric lamp and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to extend the service life thereof by the formation of a silicate layer and a sodium layer on the inner and outer walls of the discharge tube. CONSTITUTION: A discharge tube(10) is bent in a U-shape. A conductive line(31) is led in and sealed with both end inlets of the discharge tube. An exterior glass tube(20) is a cylindrical glass tube for protecting the discharge tube. The exterior glass tube receives the discharge tube inserted into the other end inlet. An electric lamp head(30) is combined with the inlet of the exterior glass tube.
