PURPOSE: A system for heating exhaust gas for Diesel Particulate Filter regeneration is provided to operate an electric heating element by an AC generator or an electronic control module. CONSTITUTION: A system for heating exhaust gas for diesel particulate filter regeneration comprises a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst housing(44), a Diesel Particulate Filter(48), and an electric heating element. An exhaust passage accepts exhaust gas from a diesel engine. The DOC housing is located inside the exhaust passage. The DPF is located at the bottom side of the DOC housing inside the exhaust passage. The electric heating element is located at the top side of the DOC housing inside the exhaust passage and increases the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing into the DOC housing.
