<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus locating the source of a printed matter, without embedding information in the printed matter, and to provide an information processing system, an information processing method, an information processing program, and a storage medium. <P>SOLUTION: An electronic document acquisition unit 42 acquires an electronic document. An image data creation unit 44 creates image data of the electronic document. A source information acquisition unit 46 acquires source information indicating the source of the electronic document. An embedment determining unit 48 determines whether to embed the source information in the image data. If a determination is made to embed the source information, an embedding unit 50 embeds the source information in the image data. If a determination is made not to embed the source information, the embedding process is prevented. A registering unit 52 registers the source information in a source history storage unit 32.
