<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sanitary washing machine configured to perform cleaning of a water tank, or combinedly perform the cleaning of the water tank and the cleaning of a washing tub. <P>SOLUTION: A control unit 55 accumulates tap water in a tank 4, after discharging, to the outside of the machine, rinsing water used for the last rinsing step in a prescribed number of times of washing after water used for washing in an outer tub 5 is accumulated in the tank 4, and circulates the tap water between a circulation path 32 and the tank 4. Then, since the inside of the tank 4 is emptied after washing the inside of the tank 4 with ozone generated in an ozone generator 47 or a supplied detergent, the inside of the tank 4 is kept sanitary. Separately from such an automatic tank washing operation, when a washing key 64 is pressed, the washing operation and rinsing operation of a washing tub (a drum 3 and the outer tub 5) and the tank 4 are performed.
