Disclosed is an object detection device for a vehicle, the device being provided with: a transmission/reception unit which transmits an electromagnetic wave and receives a reflected wave generated by reflection of the electromagnetic wave by an object around the vehicle; a reflection point calculation unit which on the basis of a signal from the transmission/reception unit, calculates the position of the reflection point of the electromagnetic wave in the object; a distance calculation unit which on the basis of the position of the reflection point, calculates the distance from the vehicle to the object; an end point detection unit which on the basis of the position of the reflection point, detects either an end point on the right side of the object or/and an end point on the left side thereof; a hiding determination unit which on the basis of the result of the calculation by the distance calculation unit and the result of the detection by the end point detection unit, determines whether or not the end point of the object is hidden by another object when viewed from the vehicle; and an end point movement speed calculation unit which calculates the lateral movement speed of the end point of the object determined to be not hidden. |
