PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus for reducing rewriting in storage areas with low overwriting resistance and for prolonging the lifetime of a storage medium. SOLUTION: An information processing apparatus having a plurality of storage areas 103 and 104 is configured to includes a file rearrangement determination unit 106 determining files should be rearranged, in which storage areas from among a plurality of storage areas, on the basis of a file access detection unit 105 detecting access characteristics to files and the access characteristics detected from the file characteristic detection unit; a file rearrangement unit 107 rearranging the files in the plurality storage areas, so that the files having the specific access characteristics can reduce the writing in the storage areas with the low overwriting resistance to prolonging the lifetime of the storage medium.
