The mechanism (14) has a locking unit (38) for reversibly preventing airflow into an area (46) of an air distribution layer (24). The locking unit is transferred from a closing condition in which airflow into the area of the air distribution layer is prevented to an open condition in which the airflow into the area of the air distribution layer is conducted. The locking unit has an air cushion, which is reversibly filled with gaseous medium. The locking unit has a bar arranged at the air cushion. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle seat comprising an air supply mechanism.
