<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and an image processing method that allow proper blur restoration in a short period of time. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing method includes: a restoration step of performing blur restoration of image data; an acquisition step of obtaining image-related information, including at least either one of information related to focus detection operation before photographing, subject movement information, and accuracy information of the focus detection operation, from the image data; a setting step of setting the information in the range of subject distances that allow the blur restoration; and an extraction step of extracting the range of the subject distances, at which the blur restoration is performed, on the basis of the image-related information.
