Disclosed is separation/take-out device wherein a stack (12) of a plurality of paper leaves (10) is mounted on a supporting table (42). The supporting table (42) is elevated up to a position where the paper leaves (10) can be taken out from the stack (12), air is jetted from an air supply mechanism (54) toward the side surface of the stack (12), and a paper leaf (10) is taken out from the uppermost surface of the stack (12) by means of a feed roller (56). The paper leaves (10) taken out from the stack (12) are separated on a leaf-to-leaf basis by means of a feed roller (56) and a separating unit (60) before being conveyed. Bundle state of the stack (12) correlated with a tight contact state between paper leaves in the stack is detected by a bundle state detection section (40), and the separation/take-out conditions including the drive conditions of the supporting table (42), the air supply mechanism (54), the feed roller (56) and the separating unit (60) are set according to the bundle state thus detected. |
