An injection molding apparatus includes a manifold having a manifold melt channel having an outlet for guiding and delivering a molten material, and a valve located in the proximity of the outlet, the valve having a movable valve member that increases or decreases the amount of melt flowing towards a mold gate. Further provided are a hot runner nozzle located between the manifold and the mold gate, wherein the nozzle has a central melt channel to receive the molten material; and a pin movable within the nozzle that controls the flow of the molten material to the mold gate.
