PURPOSE: A surface quality prediction method for a thin slab hot rolled coil and a manufacturing method for a thin slab hot rolled coil using the same are provided to ensure good surface quality of a thin slab hot rolled coil by predicting burnt based on the Cu equivalent of molten metal and coil thickness. CONSTITUTION: A surface quality prediction method for a thin slab hot rolled coil comprises steps of: measuring the Cu equivalent of molten metal, substituting the measured Cu equivalent of molten metal and the target coil thickness for an equation, (Cu equivalent*100)+(1.5*coil thickness), in order to obtain correction value A, calculating a burnt index based on the correction value A, and predicting surface defects of a thin slab hot rolled coil from the burnt index.
