PURPOSE: A focus servo control device and a method thereof are provided to prevent focus servo on operation to be misprocessed in advance by setting cover layer or space layer which has high reflection rate, thereby enabling a more exact focus servo control. CONSTITUTION: A focus servo control method is as follows; a step of comparing a tracking error signal detected from the point of focus servo on with a reference level which is set in advance(S13), a step of again performing focus servo on operation if the level of the tracking error signal is lower than the reference level(S14~S15).
