Process for preparing macrocyclic compounds

Disclosed is a process for preparing macrocyclic compounds of formula (I) which comprises the steps of reacting a macrocyclic compound of formula (3) with a bicyclic compound (QUIN), wherein the substituents are disclosed within the specification. The intermediate, QUIN, is also disclosed as well as a process for preparing the said QUIN compound. The use of the macrocyclic intermediate of formula (3) for preparing a compound of formula (I) via the claimed process is also disclosed.
