FIELD: medicine, cosmetology, pharmacy. SUBSTANCE: invention proposes cosmetic or dermatological composition in the form of an aqueous and stable dispersion of cubic gel particles on the basis of 3,7,11,15-tetramethylhexadecane-1,2,3-triol or phytanetriol and its using for hydration (wetting) of skin. The composition has 0.1-15 wt.-% of 3,7,11,15-tetramethylhexadecane-1,2,3-triol as measured for total mass of composition and 0.1-3 wt.-% of dispersing and stabilizing agent as measured for total mass of composition. The agent is taken among water-soluble at the room temperature surface-active substances containing saturated or unsaturated aliphatic chain consisting of 8-22 carbon atoms.
