PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base station for a cellular communications network, which can be used conveniently for providing cellular services at a user's home or office.SOLUTION: A base station 110 for a cellular communication network configures itself for operation in the network by selecting an appropriate operating frequency (in the case of a GSM (R) network) or scrambling codes (in the case of a UMTS network), and an appropriate transmission output. This makes it practical for a large number of base stations to be deployed in a network within customers' premises 120 without requiring network intervention in each case. |
