Open-porous structure through which a fluid can flow, formed from at least one ceramic fiber, and at least one catalytically active chemical element, which is cohesively bonded with a ceramic material of the fiber on the surface, is claimed. An independent claim is also included for producing the open-porous structure through which a fluid can flow, comprising; extruding a powdered ceramic material in a suspension with a polymer and a solvent into at least one fiber; forming a green solid structure, and subsequently expelling the organic components in a heat treatment; sintering the structure; then coating with a solution containing at least one chemical compound of a catalytically active element on the surface of the sintered structure; and carrying out a chemical reduction of the chemical compound in an additional heat treatment in a reducing atmosphere that results cohesively bonding of at least one catalytically active element containing the chemical compound on the surface of the structure. |
