<p>The method involves providing a workpiece (1) with a workpiece surface (1'), thermally and continuously excitating the workpiece surface by a continuous excitation radiation (4), and recording a thermographic image of the workpiece surface. A profile of the thermographic image is verified symmetry and/or homogeneity. The workpiece is rotated around a rotation axis (6) e.g. symmetric axis (6') of the workpiece. The excitation radiation (4) is expanded by an optical unit parallel to the rotation axis. An independent claim is also included for a device for analysis of workpiece surfaces.</p>
