PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for making easy to see a video scene having a wide dynamic range in control of a light source, such as backlight.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a light source controller for controlling light emission of a plurality of light sources, with respect to a light-emitting means having light sources arranged in a plurality of light source areas and configured to illuminate a liquid crystal panel by using the plurality of light sources. The light source controller includes: a first calculation means for calculating the average value and the standard deviation of control values of the plurality of light sources, obtained from the feature quantity of an input image; a second calculation means for calculating the ratio of the standard deviation with respect to the average value calculated by the first calculation means; and a means for controlling a gain applied to the control values of the plurality of light sources, based on the ratio calculated by the second calculation means. |
