Two halves of the label (3) are coated on one side with adhesive and applied to either side of an elastic yarn (1) cut from a feed roll, whilst at the same time tightening the yarn and moving the yarn and label at right angles to each other. This process is carried out in an elastobinder machine. A device or combination (18) for bundling or keeping together loose objects (e.g. products such as asparagus stems, leeks, separately packed thermowelded tubes, packaged video tapes or pot lids with cloths), comprises an elastic yarn with an information label attached. The label has two halves which are coated on one side with adhesive. A special machine such as a so-called elastobinder is used to fold the elastic yarn. The label lying with its adhesive-coated side facing upwards is pushed upwards by a support strip pushed by a stripper plate in the elastobinder machine, so that the two adhesive-coated sides of the label are brought together on either side of an elastic yarn cut from a feed roll, whilst at the same time using the elastobinder to tighten the yarn and move the yarn and label at right angles to each other. The resulting yarn-label device or combination can be applied directly to a stack of objects.
