<p>A recording/reproducing device includes an optical head unit for writing and reading of information onto an optical recording medium, a unit that generates a laser driving pulse according to the information, a unit that calculates an index of recording signal quality based on a signal read by the head, and a unit that performs an adjustment setting of the laser driving pulse.
The adjustment controlling unit executes test writing for a reduced number of settings of waveform adjusting parameters, calculates a strategy that improves the signal quality, then executes further test writing using the calculated write strategy, executes test writing using a reference strategy (e.g. provided by the manufacturer), determines whether the signal quality has been improved further in a case using the calculated strategy than in a case using the reference strategy and sets the write strategy to be used accordingly.</p> |
