PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide expandable styrene-based resin particles capable of producing a bottomed cylindrical foamed container excellent in adaptability to flat pressing pressure and mold release property and scarcely causing oozing of the contents. SOLUTION: The expandable styrene-based resin particles are used for molding expanded molded products. In the resin particles, the total amount of one or more kinds of aromatic compounds selected from a group consisting of a styrene-based monomer, ethylbenzene, toluene, n-propylbenzene, i-propylbenzene and xylene is 0-500 ppm and the surface of expandable styrene-based resin particles is coated with an epidermal layer composed of 0.001-0.1 pt.wt. polyvinyl alcohol having 1-60 mPa×s prescribed viscosity, 0.02-0.20 pt.wt. polyethylene glycol and 0.3-1.2 pt.wt. zinc salt of a fatty acid obtained by a direct method based on 100 pts.wt. resin particles.
