SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING VIDEO ON DEMAND SERVICE AND REALTIME CHANNEL BROADCASTING SERVICE

PURPOSE: A system and a method for providing a video on demand service and a real time channel broadcasting service are provided to consecutively watch an immediately previous scene without searching and selecting VOD content when a user wants to continuously watch VOD content that the user watched just before watching a real time channel broadcast. CONSTITUTION: A VOD service providing unit(2700) provides a VOD service. A real time channel broadcast providing unit(2800) provides a real time channel broadcast service. When a broadcast service is converted into a real time channel broadcast while VOD data is transmitted, a session control unit(2900) keeps a VOD session during predetermined time. When a transmission resume request of VOD data is received within the predetermined time, the session control unit provides continuous playback of VOD through the session.
