PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single photon generator which has both high excitation efficiency and photon extraction efficiency, and has little background noise.SOLUTION: A quantum dot 4 is embedded between an upper semiconductor layer 2 and a lower semiconductor layer 3. An opening 6 with a projection having a structure in which metal projections 11-14 are protruded from the opening is formed on an upper metal light shielding film 5. Excitation light having polarized light in a Y direction emitted from an excitation light source 21 is resonant with an antenna Y formed of the metal projections 13 and 14 and excites the quantum dot 4. Then, light emitted from the quantum dot is combined with an antenna X formed of the projections 11 and 12 and extracted to the outside as a photon of X polarized light.
