PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication technology between a video display device and eyeglasses for viewing video, the technology being for applying a video system to various applications.SOLUTION: The video system includes the video display device and the video viewing eyeglasses used for viewing video. The video display device includes: a display portion for displaying the video in time series; a synchronization signal generation portion for generating synchronization signals; and a synchronization signal transmission portion for transmitting the synchronization signals. The video viewing eyeglasses include: an optical filter portion for adjusting the amount of light transmitted to the eyes of a viewer; a synchronization signal reception portion for receiving the synchronization signals; a synchronization signal analysis portion for performing the operation of detecting bit string, analyzing a pattern of the bit string, and generating control data for controlling the operation of the optical filter portion; and an optical filter control portion for controlling the optical filter portion using the control data.
