PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary electric machine that changes the direction of magnetization of a permanent magnet built in a rotor core without using a special-purpose drive mechanism having a driving power source, and further is efficiently driven in a range where the rotational speed of the rotor is high.SOLUTION: The rotary electric machine includes an interlocking mechanism 6 which interlocks a pair of permanent magnets 3 constituting a unit 4 of paired permanent magnets so as to be rotatable on their axes in mutually opposite directions. The unit 4 of paired permanent magnets is so provided as to enter an inner cross state in which the extensions in the direction P of magnetization of the pair of permanent magnets 3 cross each other inside in the radial direction R of the rotor to the axes X3 of rotation by the action of the magnetic field from another unit 4 of paired magnets adjoining it while the magnetic field from a stator coil 51 does not act, and to enter an outer cross state in which the extensions in the directions P of magnetization of the pair of permanent magnets 3 cross each other outside in the radial direction R of the rotor to the axes X3 of rotation by the action of the magnetic field from the stator coil 51. |
