PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steer-by-wire type steering device having a compact constitution, wherein a toe angle adjustment motor can be diverted for use as a driving source for steering in the event of failure of a steering motor, and a toe angle adjustment mechanism is immobilized for safe travel in the event of failure of the toe angle adjustment motor.SOLUTION: The steer-by-wire type steering device includes a steering motor 6, a steering force transmission mechanism 18 which transmits the rotation of the steering motor to a steering shaft 10, and a toe angle adjustment force transmission mechanism 30 which adjusts the toe angle in accordance with the rotation of the toe angle adjustment motor 7. A switching mechanism 17 is provided by which when the steering motor 6 fails, in place of the steering motor 6, the rotation of the toe angle adjustment motor 7 is transmitted to the steering force transmission mechanism 18 so as to perform steering, and when the toe angle adjustment motor 7 fails, steering is performed only by the steering motor 6. A hollow motor is used for one or both of the steering motor 6 and the toe angle adjustment motor 7. |
