A shelf height adjuster for a refrigerator is provided to control the height of a shelf as desired by a rotation rod in the double helical gear shape precisely and easily, wherein extension rods mounted with elastic elements are connected to the rotation rod integrally for preventing contact between first and second horizontal movement elements and fixed shafts of a fixed frame when they moved fully to the ends of the rotation rod. A shelf height adjuster for a refrigerator includes a fixed frame(10) fixed to an inner wall of a refrigerator or freezer compartment and having fixed shafts(11,12) facing each other. A moving frame(30) is mounted in front of the fixed frame to move in the vertical direction together with a shelf(20). A rotation rod(40) is connected to the moving frame in the traverse direction and formed with spiral parts at an outer peripheral surface in the opposite direction. A pair of first and second horizontal movement elements(50,51) are coupled with the spiral parts of the rotation rod to move oppositely in the horizontal direction by the rotation of the rotation rod. Cylindrical extension rods(42) are formed at both ends of the rotation rod integrally with a diameter smaller than that of the rotation rod, and mounted with elastic elements(43) such as springs for applying elasticity to the first and second horizontal movement elements. At least one connection bar(52) is connected to any one of the first and second horizontal movement element and the fixed shaft symmetrically to move the rotation rod in the vertical direction in response to the opposite horizontal movement of the first and second horizontal movement elements. |
